Colne Valley Reiki FAQ

COLNE VALLEY REIKI IS CURRENTLY CLOSED

Latest update 15/12/2020: Hello, hope you are all keeping well. Sadly, in light of the current restrictions, it is just not feasible to run courses from my home in a safe manner. Therefore I’ve taken the decision to close Colne Valley Reiki for the foreseeable future.

I felt it best to take this decision, instead of chopping and changing all the time as restrictions are lifted or re-imposed. I really hope I can reopen sometime next year as things hopefully go back to normal, but for now, Colne Valley Reiki remains closed.

I’ve removed the contact form from the website for the time being, and will email those who have been in touch over the last few months. Please stay safe all,

Sal x

Colne Valley Reiki FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Reiki

What is Reiki?
You can find out more about what Usui Reiki is here.

What areas do you cover?
I am based in the vibrant Colne Valley in Huddersfield, so local areas are Golcar, Milnsbridge, Linthwaite, Slaithwaite, Marsden, and surrounding areas in the Colne Valley. My courses are run at my home in Linthwaite, HD7 – this is easily accessible from Huddersfield and surrounding areas by car, bus, train (Slaithwaite is nearest station) or bike. There is a bus stop close by with buses every 10 minutes or so into the town centre.

Do you offer Reiki treatments?
Unfortunately I don’t offer Reiki treatments at the moment as I’m mainly focused on teaching Reiki 🙂 I can recommend some lovely Reiki practitioners though so please get in touch if you need to!

What is the age limit for Reiki?
I ask that clients are over the age of 16. If under the age of 16, I ask that a parent or guardian is present. Reiki is perfectly safe to use at all ages, and in pregnancy. Reiki can also be used on pets.

Can I study all levels of Reiki one after the other?
I ask that you leave a period of time between each level of Reiki colne valley reiki faqstudied. This is because Reiki is a learning journey – it takes time to become used to using Reiki and incorporating the practice into your everyday routine. Typically, this is around 3 months between level 1 Shoden and Level 2 Okuden, and then around a year between Okuden and Level 3 Shinpiden.

How much do you charge?
You can see all my prices here. I feel Reiki should be of benefit to all so please don’t let price put you off – if you are on a very low income or have no income please contact me to discuss.

Do you offer different payment options?
Yes. I offer concessionary rates for anyone on a low income. You can also pay in instalments for courses by prior arrangement. Please contact me to discuss!

Can I fit a course around childcare/work/other commitments?
Yes! I’m extremely flexible with course times and dates. From full days to an hour a week, please get in touch and we can work something out to suit you.

Will I get a certificate?
Yes! And a crystal tumblestone. 🙂

Are you insured?
Yes – my insurers are Wellbeing Insurance. Completing a course with me means you will be able to practice Reiki either on yourself, friends and family at Level 1 Shoden, or professionally after arranging your own insurance, at Level 2 Okuden and Level 3 Shinpiden.

What is your Reiki Lineage?
I teach Japanese-Style Reiki, my Lineage is: Usui Mikao – Kanichi Taketomi – Kimiko Koyama – Doi HiroshiFrans Stiene – Rebecca HoltonLois Skilleter.

Are there exams?
No – I need to be confident you understand the course material at each level and there are practical assessments and questions, but these are very informal, not in an ‘examination’ style at all! Please discuss any worries and I’ll do my best to put your mind at rest!

Do you do group courses?
You can come with a friend to both study the course (maximum of 2 people). I have to charge each person separately, however, you can both save 10% off the course price. Flexible/alternative payments do not apply to group courses.

Accessibility:
I am very happy to discuss your preferred learning methods, and can adapt course materials if necessary (e.g. printing on tinted paper, larger font, etc). I am flexible to break down courses into manageable chunks over a period of time if this is preferable to completing the courses in long days. If you have a carer they are more than welcome to come with you.
As I run courses from my home, it may not be suitable if you have mobility issues – in these cases I am happy to travel to you. As always, please contact me if you’ve any questions, I’ll do my best to work something out!
